It is aimed at practicing electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update training before going onto achieve the City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations (2391-10). It will also support candidates in demonstarting the required level of competency in inspection and testing of domestic installations when being assessed for self certification within a Part P scheme.
Course description: There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification. It would be expected that candidates have a basic knowledge and understanding of BS 7671:2008, electrical science and principles. It would also be expected that candidates have experience of electrical installation work either within the electrical contracting industry or an allied trade.
Assessment: Candidates will be required to complete the following two assessments;
- 1.5 hour GOLA on-line multiple choice test covering outcomes 1-3 consisting of 50 questions (2392-101)
- Practical assessment for the unit (2392-102)
Materials Required: All candidates will be provided with an extensive training materials written by the awarding bodies lead provider. All candidates are required to bring along a non-programmable scientific calculator and standard stationary. The course is designed to verify that candidates are fully familiar with the content and application of Guidance Note 3 published by the IET. The course deals with initial verification of domestic installations only and does not enter the topics of periodic testing, commercial, industrial or three phase installations. These advanced topics are assessed during the level 3 course (2391-10) which candidates can progress onto. All candidates are advised to obtain a copies of the following publications for reference throughout the course.

Entry Requirements: It would be expected that candidates have a basic knowledge and understanding of BS 7671:2008, electrical science and principles. Therefore we advise completing the City & Guilds 2382-10 programme first.
