Description

Come to learn the fascination game of bridge. This course is mainly for those with no previous knowledge of the game, but it will also benefit those whose knowledge and experience was gained a long time ago. Standard English (ACOL) will be taught.

Learner and Entry Requirements:
None – although students may wish to purchase low-cost supporting materials.

Course Aim & Objectives:
To introduce students to t he game of bridge, how to bid, how to play and how to defend.

Students will have some basic bidding knowledge to include competitive bidding. Students will understand how to plan the play of a hand. Students will have learnt some defensive tools e.g. signals and opening leads.

  • Introduction to bridge via Mini Bridge.
  • The in NT opening bid and responses.
  • Suit opening bids and responses.
  • Opener's rebid.
  • Responder's second bid.
  • Overcalls.
  • The play in NT and with trumps.
  • Opening leads and signals.
  • Discards.
  • Scoring.
