Through a variety of methods, you'll learn written and spoken skills in your chosen languages. Role plays and presentations will help hone your verbal fluency, and you'll learn to communicate and negotiate effectively in a business context. Should you choose to combine your language study with a business specialty, you'll learn the principles of your chosen field in the context of international business. What's involved This course is studied full-time, over four years. It will involve lectures, tutorials and independent study, both here and at one of our partner institutions abroad. You will study at least one language from a choice of French, German, Spanish or English as a Foreign Language throughout your degree, and depending on other subject choices you will have the opportunity to study one or more further languages. The course is designed to offer you maximum flexibility in your choice of language and business combinations. You will be advised on the wide range of options available. Below is an indication of the compulsory modules you could study. These will be supplemented with choices from a course-specific option pool : Year 1 Language; Exploring Entrepreneurship; Intercultural Organisational Management; plus two option modules Year 2 Language; Creativity Innovation and Enterprise; Exploring Culture; plus two option modules Year 3 Language; Starting a New Business; plus either approved Study Abroad or further Language plus option modules Note: Study Abroad is compulsory for all students studying French, German or Spanish as their main language and will take place in a country in which this language is spoken. Students whose main language is English as a Foreign Language may, with the agreement of the Programme Leader, elect to remain in the University during the Study Abroad period and study the appropriate EFL module plus option modules Year 4 Dissertation; Language; Communication in International Management; plus one option module Note on Language Modules: The main language must be studied throughout the programme, and students must achieve level 10 by the end of Year 4 In exceptional cases only, students may choose to study one language as their main language in years 1 and 2, and a second language as their main language in years 3 and 4, providing they meet the criterion of reaching level 10 in the language by the end of Year 4.
