The honours course is accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers the Institute of Highway Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation and the Institution of Structural Engineers. IEng degree Accredited IEng (Full) This degree is accredited as fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng). See www.jbm.org.uk for further information. You'll develop skills in and knowledge of structural analysis, construction surveying, geology and relevant computer applications. What's involved Based over six years part-time, the course will involve lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions and independent study. Year 1 Foundation Mathematics, Construction Surveying, Civil Engineering Materials, Option Year 2 Construction Engineering, Engineering Principles (Civil), Intermediate Mathematics, Soil Mechanics Year 3 Fluid Mechanics, Structural Analysis and Design, Timber Properties and Construction, Option Year 4 Integrating Design Project, choice of: English as a Foreign Language, Digital Mapping & GIS, Methods of Construction Year 5 Applied Structural Design 2, Construction Engineering & Management, Environmental Hydraulics, Honours Project, choice of Advanced Land Surveying, Traffic Engineering, Structural Timber Design 1 Year 6 Engineering Law & Contract Procedures, Ground Engineering Students of this course are eligible for the Best Timber-related dissertation prize and the Properties and Structural Use of Timber prize.
