This course provides you with a broad understanding of biological sciences including biomedical, microbiology, toxicology, animal and marine biology, and immunology. All of our biological science courses give you the option to study the areas of biology which interest you the most. But choosing what to specialise in can be difficult. This course allows you to study a variety of biological sciences, with the flexibility to specialise at a later stage if you wish. You'll develop biological research skills relevant to your chosen discipline, such as forensic analysis, microbiological assay and field surveying. What's involved The course is studied full-time over four years, though it may also be studied part-time. You will learn by a variety of teaching methods including lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, field trips, and through independent study. There may also be some opportunities to study abroad. Year 1 Life on Earth, Introductory Physiology, Molecules and Cells, two practical modules, and either Plant Science or Concepts in Forensic Biology Year 2 Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physiology and the Environment, a practical module, and two modules from Biology of Disease Animal Behaviour Search and Recovery Microbes and Man Systems Therapeutics Year 3 Scientific Communication - Dissertation and Statistics, and five optional modules from across the biological sciences including biomedical, microbiology, toxicology, animal and marine biology, and immunology Year 4 Three optional modules from across the biological sciences including biomedical, microbiology, toxicology, animal and marine biology, and immunology, plus an honours project.

Standard Grade / GCSE English, Maths, Biology & Chemistry (or Double Award Science) (3/C). Typical year 2 HNCIn a related subject with A in graded unit. Typical year 3 HNDIn related subject area with Grade BB at SCQF Level 8 in the graded unit. Typical Entry requirements indicate the minimum qualifications with which students are normally accepted.
