About This Course:The Combined Award is not so much a single award as a streamed award which allows students to follow a dedicated stream leading to one of three nominate awards. The Combined Award enables the holders of one nominate award to enrol for individual units in subsequent years so as to complete a further nominate award without being required to complete the common units already passed. In the First Block all students complete two Higher National Units namely Legal Research Methods and Legal Ethics which are core skills based Units.
In the second Block students stream out into one of three substantive streams (see more information for details) and will study one Higher National Unit comprising the relevant substantive law for that stream and will also commence a further Unit dealing with the professional practice side of that stream
In the third Block all students take a Unit dealing with the
implications of IT – particularly Data Protection and
Confidentiality issues and complete the practical Unit.
By specific agreement with the Curriculum Leader it may be possible
to join the programme in Block 2 and complete the programme in
Block 1 of the following year. This provides a rolling programme
option in appropriate cases.
All units are priced at £150 per unit and may be taken individually. The total price for the complete PDA is therefore a flat rate of £750.
If holders of any PDA who are exempt from the common units wish to upskill by taking the substantive and practical units for another stream there would be an administrative fee of £50 to cover the costs associated with issue of a second or subsequent PDA so that the cost of a second or subsequent PDA would be a flat rate of £350.
