Overview

About This Course:

The course provides the knowledge and skills required for a career in the creative media industries. Highly practical, it will prepare you for a variety of roles used in the publishing, printing, design and media industries; for example, artwork creation, digital imaging, graphic design, motion graphics, pre-press disciplines and VFX.

What You Need:
  • An NC/NQ qualification in Digital Media, Print, Design or equivalent SVQ, OR:
  • One Higher plus three Standard Grades at Credit level, OR:
  • Relevant experience in Digital Media.

For HNC students, progression to year 2 of an HN programme will be a competitive process based upon measurable performance.

What You Study:

The subjects you’ll study include the generation of Motion Graphics, Digital Imaging, Computer Aided Design, Graphic Design, Typography and Desktop Publishing, Multimedia
and 3D Animation, Web Design, Pre-Press Technologies and Print Production Technologies. We provide all course materials.

After The Course:

Career

Options include in-house publishing and media departments, commercial design, printing and publishing companies.

Continuing study

Successful completion of this course may provide you with the opportunity to progress to Degree courses such as BA (Hons) Graphic Design for Digital Media at Glasgow Caledonian University; BA (Hons) Digital Art at UWS and Napier University; BA (Hons) Multimedia Technology at UWS, BA (Hons) Digital Media at Napier University.

How Long:

Two years, starting in August. You can also leave after one year with a Higher National Certificate.

Location:

City Campus North Hanover Street.
