About This Course:

The course has a number of practical and theory elements that combine to give you a foundation to develop your interest in Sport and Leisure and allow progression to a higher level award. It also gives you an insight into the business of Sport and Leisure providing you with knowledge of many aspects of the industry and what’s needed of employees in the sector.

What You Need:
  • 3 Standard Grades at Band 3 or above one being English.
  • Before we offer you a place, we’ll invite you to an interview, where you’ll need to demonstrate your interest in sport.

What You Study:

The core units you will study include Development and Design of Training Programmes, Human Physiology, an introduction to Sports Therapy, Exercise and Fitness Training, Sports Officiating and Organising, Coaching Development and First Aid. There are practical elements in the course that include volleyball, racquet sports and football.

After The Course:

Career – local authority sports attendant, community / youth worker

Continuing study – successful students can apply for entry to HNC/D courses in Sports Coaching, Sports Therapy and Fitness Health & Exercise.

How Long:

One year, starting in August.

Location:

Riverside Campus.
