grooming, styling and finishing dogs to a very high standard.
Planning your work, using tools and equipment safely and well,
promoting the health and well being of dogs and self. Understanding
the health and safety requirements of a dog grooming salon.
Understanding the needs of dogs and meeting their owner's
requirements. Our grooming team will also offer their own personal
insights into how to be successful in the industry. Units include:
• Carry out the styling and finishing of dogs (6 credits) •
Assessment and planning of dog grooming work (4 credits) • Promote
and maintain the health & wellbeing of animals (4 credits) •
Health checking a dog by a dog groomer (4 credits) • Hand stripping
a dog's coat (6 credits) • Style and trim a spaniel's coat (6
credits) • Style and trim a short-legged terrier's coat (6 credits)
How will I be Taught? All teaching takes place in our grooming
parlour where you will work closely with a lecturer and grooming
assistant. You will learn by doing and will benefit from
outstanding advice and guidance, close supervision and support from
your peers. How will I be Assessed? Ongoing assessment of practical
activity, one-to-one assessment with tutor. Formal assessment is by
a two hour theory exam and production of a portfolio of written and
photographic evidence of your hard work. What our students say?
