Course Overview
The hospitality and tourism industry is widely recognised as one of the few sectors vibrant in the current economic climate and one which makes a significant contribution to job creation and the national economy. This two year programme is ideal for those who seek a career in organisations such as hotels, restaurants, licensed premises and events. Study modules include: Contemporary Hospitality and Tourism; Events Operations; Introduction to Finance; Accounts and Research Methods. Practical modules Culinary Operations and Hospitality Services are a compulsory component of this programme in year one, delivered in our state of the art training restaurant and kitchen facilities.

In the second year, modules include: Marketing and Entrepreneurship; Organisation and People Management; Hospitality and Tourism Management Issues. The course includes a compulsory six month period of work-based learning where you will complete a real industry projuct while placed with a key employer. Assessment is carried out using a range of methods including assignments, seminars, practical tests and examinations.

This programme is validated by the University of Ulster.


Entry Requirements
The minimum entry requirement for this course is 120 UCAS points , although a tariff higher than the minimum is likely to apply inresponse to levels of demand for the course.

Where will this course take you
On completion of this course, graduates many progress to top up their qualification to a full honours degree either at the University of Ulster or at other UK universites. Further study opportunites exist both full and part time. Alternatively, graduates can proceed directly to employment within the hospitality, travel and tourism and events sectors.
