Course Overview
This course is designed to cover a range of Engineering and IT subjects allowing you to obtain the relevant skills and qualifications to progress to Higher Education in an engineering discipline and obtain skills relevant to industry. (Units may include; Health & Safety; Electronic Principles; Programmable Logic Controllers;
Microprocessors; Electronics and Electronic Measurement and Testing) with an additional three units in IT.
(Units may include; Communication Technologies; Procedural Programming and Controlling Systems Using IT).

After completing this one year course you will have the option to progress onto an Extended Diploma in
Engineering (3 A Level equivalent) or change discipline

Additional Information
Assessments will be by assignment (practical exercises), portfolio assessment and written examinations. During pre-entry and guidance, staff will discuss with you the most appropriate pathway for you at this level.

Entry Requirements
Requirements are pre-defined by the College's admissions criteria which are outlined at the beginning of this prospectus. In addition applicants must possess a grade B or above in GCSE Mathematics or Level 2 Numeracy together with a full level 2 qualification in an engineering related discipline.

Where will this course take you
This programme is designed to allow for progression to Higher Education (Degree or HND) after two years or to a technician level post in industry. After one year you have the option of changing discipline.
