Course Overview
The college offers four different courses at level 3 for students who wish to further their interest in art and design and aim for a career in the creative industries. Art: This pathway allows you to further your skills across a wide range of subjects including painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, ceramics and life drawing and provides an opportunity to consolidate your specialist pathway into higher education.

Graphic Design: This courseaims to provide you with a highly specialised work related qualification, giving you the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes, essential for successful performance in working life or to progress to ahigher education qualification. You will study visual communication through ideas generation, the design process and typography, photography and advertising. You will work in a bright spacious studio with Apple iMac computers, using the latest AdobeCS5 software. The course suits those who like to communicate, are excited by new ideas, drawing, creating images and thinking outside the box.

Fashion and Clothing: This pathway is for students interested in the areas of fashion, design, garment making, pattern construction and fashion business. There are opportunities to travel and participate in fashion events and design competitions. This course is ideal for the artistic and creative types, attracted to the dynamics of the fast moving, global, fashion industry. You will experience practical hands-on learning, developing skills in sewing, tailoring, pattern construction and digital design. Fashion business and marketing modules create a unique learning experience leading to employment opportunities in the fashion, design and retail industries. Modules are delivered by a range of specialist, highly qualified, experienced tutors. Successful completion may lead to progression to the BSc (Hons) in Fashion Management, validated by Manchester Metropolitan University or other degrees/HNDs in related areas.


Entry Requirements
Requirements are pre-defined by the College’s admissions criteria and include GCSE Art. In addition, applicants must present a portfolio of evidence. The assessment criteria for the portfolio can be obtained from the course team co-ordinator.
