This course is offered at two different pathways. Students can follow the art and design pathway or the fashion pathway. Art and Design Pathway: The college offers four different courses at level 3 for students who wish to further their interest in art and design and aim for a career in the creative industries. These practical, one course (can be extended to 2 years for a L3 Extended Diploma 180 credits), and can lead to progression to Foundation Art & Design, HND, and to higher education at university/art college and/or to employment in a related field. Fashion Pathway:
This 90 credit is a one year course and equivalent to 1.5 A Levels.
The fashion pathway is for students interested in the areas of
fashion, design, garment making, pattern construction and fashion
business. There are opportunities to travel and participate in
fashion events and design competitions. This course is ideal for
the artistic and creative types, attracted to the dynamics of the
fast moving, global, fashion industry. You will experience
practical hands-on learning, developing skills in sewing, pattern
construction and digital design. Fashion business and marketing
modules create a unique learning experience leading to employment
opportunities in the fashion, design and retail industries. Modules
are delivered by a range of specialist, highly qualified,
experienced tutors. Successful completion can lead to progression
to a year two extended diploma in Fashion making a total of 180
credit which is the equivanlent of 3 A levels.
Entry Requirements
Requirements are pre-defined by the College’s admissions criteria,
including GCSE Art. In addition, applicants must present a
portfolio of evidence. The assessment criteria for the portfolio
can be obtained from the course team co-ordinator.
