Who is this course for? This course is designed for mature students (19+) with experience in the motor trade who would like to gain the necessary skills to run a garage profitably or advance their knowledge of higher technologies and increase diagnostic skills in order to develop their opportunities further. What qualifications or experience do I need ? A Level 3 qualification, A Levels or relevant industrial experience. Applicants will need to provide a satisfactory reference and demonstrate necessary commitment to undertake a programme at this level during interview, a discussion can also take place about aspirations and abilities. Who is this course for? What will I study ? Areas of study include: Advanced diagnostics, advanced electronics, advanced engineering and management. Programmes may be tailored according to current qualifications but students are required to study 16 units, 6 of which are core units. Compulsory units are: Managing people, finance, project managing resources. Other units cover: Advanced diagnostics, electronics, engine design, engine management, Management, body systems. How will I be assessed ? The programme comprises a great deal of research into various subject areas, then application of learned skills & information to realistic scenarios via a mixture of assignments, coursework and end tests. What qualifications could I achieve ? Higher National Diploma at Level 4 or 5 What can the course lead to ? Career development, possibly on to management, alongside enhancing technology skills, skills that should enable successful students either to run their own, or someone else�s business.
