Introduction

This course is designed to provide you with an introduction to a wide range of skills suitable for the fashion and retail industries. You will have access to modern purpose -built specialist studios and workshops, and will develop skills using industry standard computer programs.

You will study garment construction and pattern making, retail studies and digital technology. All parts of the programme are connected with contextual history where research into contemporary designers will complement classical studies.

How Will I Be Assessed?

All modules are internally assessed through assignments and projects and all modules are subject to external moderation. Assignments include a variety of assessment methods, including exploratory work, case studies and work-based assignments, along with projects, performance observation and time-constrained assessments where appropriate.

Entry Requirements

You will have standard GCSE qualifications, as well as an art or textile based GCSE. All applicants will be required to attend a taster session and provide a portfolio of work upon interview.

Additional Information

Additional costs: Studio fee of £150 at enrolment. The fee includes a starter kit, funding for trips and materials used within the course. Duration: 1 year.

Progression

Upon completion of this course, you can proceed to BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Fashion Retail.
