Why DevOps?
The emergence of the concept was an effort to get even closer to a more total delivery of IT than is often the case in organizations where Development and Operation are separate functions (preferably having as little as possible to do with each other).
The emergence of the concept was an effort to get even closer to a more total delivery of IT than is often the case in organizations where Development and Operation are separate functions (preferably having as little as possible to do with each other)
But unfortunately, this can often mean that it instead creates concern for the other function. For example, on the operating side, we choose to standardize to a certain type of operating system and platform, which we then want developers to relate to. But it creates lock-in for the developers, and often as a result also situations where it is unclear who is responsible for what, for example in connection with incidents.
Where the development side (preferably encouraged by the deal) wants to make as many changes as possible, the operation wants to keep stability high and thereby reduce the number of changes. High THROUGHPUT is set against STABILITY.
