What is the course about?The course will focus on developing speaking and listening
skills. The emphasis will be on increasing your ability to deal
with a wider range of topics as well as cope with unpredictable
situations.
The content and outcomes of the course will be discussed with you
and may be adapted to meet your needs and those of the group. As a
guide, by the end of the course you should be able to:
Deal with everyday situations and hold a conversation about topics
relating to everyday life, such as family, hobbies, travel, current
affairs and the world of work.
Take part in discussions and express your opinion on a range of
familiar and unfamiliar topics.

Who is the course for?
This course is designed to improve and sustain your language
skills keeping your mind active and alert.
You will have studied the language for some years and may have a
GCSE, AS, or have attended a Level 3 course (or above). You can
carry out routine tasks and deal with most predictable situations
with a degree of fluency and spontaneity. If you are unsure of your
level, please contact your local centre for further assistance.

What is your approach?
The course is conducted in French and will provide a highly
stimulating environment. Working in pairs, small groups, on your
own or with the whole class you will take part in a range of
activities, including role play, games, quizzes, reading
comprehension and listening exercises. You will be expected to
communicate using the target language.

What will I need?
You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning
Plan and your tutor will discuss your progress and achievement with
you throughout the course.
What will I need for the first lesson?
Pens, lined paper we recommend having a folder or ring binder for
the course.
Please bring a packed lunch – tea and coffee are available at a
small cost.
Are there any other costs?
At the first session your tutor will advise you about the purchase
of a textbook and/or dictionary.
