You will learn to identify, design, plan, execute and provide effective creative solutions for production, business or technical issues. By applying critical analysis to your own professional practice, you will learn to evaluate the appropriate applied models through effective communication within your professional and academic contexts.

Course content

The itinerary includes:

  • advanced studio lighting
  • light sources – hard and soft
  • principles of colour TV cameras
  • planning, including storyboarding
  • allocating a variety of resources
  • studio space
  • special set requirements
  • chroma-keyer in Apple Final Cut Studio
  • the importance of robust Health and Safety with appropriate risk assessment.

Assessment

The programme is assessed through the submission of production-related materials, such as storyboards, production plans, crew and kit specifications, studio layouts, and lighting plots.

  • Duration: Two days face-to-face, plus online material
  • Location:Studio D on the first floor in the Sir James Matthews Building (SJM) building
    which can easily be found on the University Campus Map (PDF)
  • Total cost: £450 per delegate
  • Academic credit: 10 credits at Master's level (Level 7)
