Description
Develop the skills you need to support teaching and learning in schools. Complete a placement in a school and study employability skills. Develop your English, maths and ICT skills whilst completing the Certificate in Supporting Learning in Schools Level 2 and Level 3.
You will learn employability skills, the principles and practice of supporting learning in a school environment and how to evaluate and improve your learning support practice.
You will also have the opportunity to obtain additional qualifications in functional skills, or GCSEs in English, maths and biology (depending on your existing qualifications).

There will be a variety of approaches to teaching and learning. The
course is delivered by blended learning and a placement in a
school. You will have access to a virtual learning environment,
which will support your classroom sessions.
Completion of the year long programme will provide you with Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT at Level 2 or GCSE’s in English, maths and biology (depending on your qualifications on entry to the programme), a Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills (if you do not already have one) and a Certificate in Supporting Learning at Level 2 and Level 3. You will gain a certificate in Preparing to Support Learning.
You need GCSE English at grade D or above (or equivalent), or you need to demonstrate that you have Level 1 literacy skills.
After completing the programme you may wish to apply for a teaching assistant post.
