IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 Differences and Upgrade

Course Description:

Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 (TSM) introduces a DB2 based, nonproprietary database, as well as new features, commands, and supported devices and platforms. In this course, you will explore the new features and commands with lectures and hands-on exercises. You will discover features like data deduplication; a method of eliminating redundant data in storage pools, enhancements to the Administration Center, and active-data pools for disaster recovery. You will also install and use Tivoli Common Reporting.

You will plan and upgrade Tivoli Storage Manager V5 to Tivoli Storage Manager V6.1. Implementing Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 involves upgrading from the Tivoli Storage Manager proprietary database to a provided DB2 database. Basic DB2 functions and queries will be discussed in the class, to ensure you have the necessary skills to manager the Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 database.
