Before attending this course, students should be able to:

Write SQL DDL statements for maintaining the iSeries DB2 UDB database

Write SQL DML statements for the retrieval and manipulation of information stored in the iSeries DB2 UDB database.

Course Description:

Cross-training for experienced RPG programmers ­learn to use embedded SQL as an alternative to traditional file processing.

Suitable for experienced RPG programmers with a basic understanding of the SQL language.

After attending this course, students should be able to:

  • Code embedded SQL statements (static and dynamic) in RPG programs to perform database I/O operations
  • Explain the use of SQL Stored Procedures

Each student will have a dedicated workstation to complete the numerous practical exercises. Sample solutions will also be provided.

This course includes the following modules:

Applications Using SQL

  • Review of the SQL language
  • Coding Static SQL statements in RPG IV programs
  • Coding Dynamic SQL statements in RPG IV programs
  • SQL Stored Procedures
