Detailed practical instruction on AIX Work Load Manager gives experienced commercial sysadmins a thorough workout in applying WLM to production workloads.

Course Objectives

- Describe the need for Work Load Management
- Define Workload Manager (WLM) terms, and concepts
- Describe in detail the overall functionary of Workload Manager
- Build WLM Superclasses and Subclasses and assign processes to the classes for CPU, Memory and Disk I/O control
- Assign classes to tier levels for hierarchical control of resource allocation
- Build class assignment rules for CPU, Memory and Disk I/O control
- Decide what resource shares are required and assign resource shares
- Apply resource limits to classes
- Analyze WLM managed resources
- Demonstrate the use of WLM performance monitoring tools
- Evaluate WLM practical experiences
- Manipulate WLM using manual assignments
- Examine the WLM Application Programming Interface (API)
