It then looks at the neuropathology of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), including psychopathy and cognitive functioning. Finally, it will examine interventions, including prevention and rehabilitation approaches.

The course aims to:

•    Provide a nationally accredited certificated programme covering a wide range of issues associated with alcohol use during pregnancy and the variety of clinical symptoms and developmental outcomes and possible interventions
•    Provide a flexible learning opportunity that is accessible to a wide range of learners
•    Provide the student with knowledge and understanding that can be applied by those who either personally, voluntary or professionally have a special interest in this field.

The Health Care Diploma has been designed to give an opportunity for those working in a Care environment to improve their skills to progress in Health and Social Care.

Working in a care sector setting, you have responsibilities to provide a service to your clients and to respond safely and effectively to their needs. This course will help you to gain the skills needed to do this and achieve a qualification that recognises your achievement. This Health Care Diploma is concerned with your role, as a care worker, in identifying ways of communicating on difficult, complex and sensitive issues, in a variety of situations.

You will explore and analyse methods of reflecting on and developing your practice. Updating your knowledge and taking action to enhance your practice are vital to meeting the changing needs of individuals in your care, and the demands of a rapidly advancing health care system.

Previous Knowledge Required

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
