Focusing on the language required for study at British universities, the course equips you with the writing, speaking, reading and study skills which will prepare you for advanced diplomas, taught masters, research degrees or associateship courses.

This course is run by the Centre for Academic and Professional Literacies (CAPLITS).
The course helps students to gain new understandings of academic literacy and oracy and cope with cultural differences (academic and social). Participants will have the opportunity to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English and engage in activities relevant to their areas of study.
It comprises three self-contained but linked units, each building on the previous one. The number of units that each student takes will depend on their IELTS or TOEFL score.
Who is this course for?
The course is suitable for postgraduate students of education or related disciplines preparing to take advanced diplomas, taught master's, research degrees or associateship courses.
The summer course in English for academic purposes is specially designed for students intending to undertake postgraduate courses in education or related disciplines.
Attendance
The course comprises 22.5 hours of tuition per week (plus tutorials), with classes from 10.00 to 15.30 Monday to Friday. Additionally, individual tutorials and optional activities are held on Wednesday afternoons.
