Summary
Animation and Interactive media are at the forefront of creative
industries in the UK and worldwide, ranging from 2D and 3D
animation for TV, film, video games design or advertising, to
interactive content for websites and touch screen devices such as
mobile phones. This course will allow you to gain skills in both
traditional and digital animation techniques, and you will learn
how to use interactive media technologies creatively to produce
user-friendly design solutions or communicate a message or idea to
a specific audience. You will also develop a portfolio to showcase
your creativity and achievement.
Entry Requirements
- 200 GCSE entry points including English at Grade C or have Level 2 Diploma at Merit level and functional skills English at L2
- You will have to provide examples of art and design work at interview
- We also welcome applications from students with other relevant experience or qualifications
What will I be doing on the course?
- 2D and stop motion animation using traditional and digital media
- Video production (including DVD authoring)
- Digital photography (including digital camera techniques and experimental photography)
- Website design (including web animation)
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through working on practical assignments,
producing a range of products and portfolio material. Functional
skills are assessed through online tests.
What will I need?
Students are required to provide a basic course kit of art
materials and sketchbooks. You will be provided with a list and
cost guidance. There may be additional payments required for some
study trips, books and personal stationery.
What can I do next?
- Once you have successfully completed this course, you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification and developed your personal skills
- You may progress to Higher Education taking a degree in an art/media specialism
- You may enter employment in the creative sector
Additional Activities
You will take part in our enrichment programme, taking trips to galleries, museums and exhibitions in London. You will develop your skills in English, Numeracy and ICT through taking Functional Skills as appropriate.
