What does the course include?

This course provides a thorough and intensive grounding in counselling skills with an introduction to the Person-centred counselling model. Emphasis is on the acquisition of skills rather than academic attainment.

This course is available for concessions, and requires an interview.

You will need to have completed the ‘Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills’ and/or attend an interview if you have the relevant academic background and/or work experience.

How will I be assessed?

You will study the following units: safety and ethics, working with boundaries, working empathically as a helper, focus on the helpee’s needs and concerns, using self-awareness and using a range of counselling skills.
You will be assessed on your coursework and observation of skills practice as well as a short exam.

Where does it lead?

This course will equip you to use counselling skills in the workplace as well as offer progression to the Cert in Counselling Studies Level 3. This course is eligible for SFA funding.
