About This Course:The course offers an ideal preparation for work, or for entry to a higher-level software development course. Using a balance of theory and practice, you’ll learn the concepts of software design and how to interpret programme specifications. You will develop skills in the following programming languages – C#, VB.NET, Java and SQL.

This is evidence that this course will help prepare you for either employment or progression to university in what is continuing to be a growth area of Computing.
What You Need:- Three National Courses including Intermediate 2 English and Maths/ Numeracy with an A or B pass, Or
- Three Standard Grades at Credit level, including English and Mathematics/Numeracy, Or
- Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
- For those returning to education, life skills and experience in the workplace may allow entry subject to availability.

What You Study:The subject areas you will study include Developing Software using Visual Basic and C# , Designing Animations/Games using Java, Designing and Creating Relational Databases (SQL), Test Software Components, Core Skills (Numeracy & Communication), IT Productivity Packages (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations), Troubleshooting PC Systems, Developing Websites.
After The Course:Career – an opportunity may arise for a junior/trainee position or Modern Apprenticeship in IT within a company.
Continuing Study - guaranteed progress to the HNC Computing or the HND Computing: Software Development course at the college.
How Long:One year, starting in August.
