About This Course:

This course will teach you the practical skills in massage, the relevant knowledge in anatomy and physiology as well as all aspects of clinical and holistic aromatherapy.

There are three parts to this course, leading to the SQA Higher National Unit in Aromatherapy and a College Certificate in Clinical Aromatherapy.

What You Need:
  • There are no formal entry requirements but you must complete Part 1 – Anatomy Physiology before you can progress to Part 2 – Body Massage and Part 3 - Aromatherapy.
  • If English isn’t your first language you’ll need to provide evidence that you’ve achieved ESOL Intermediate Level 2 (or equivalent)

You are required to wear a tunic and trousers for the practical classes.

What You Study:

The course comprises of 3 parts outlined below which can be studied concurrently.

Part 1 - Anatomy Physiology

Study of systems of the body with emphasis on the circulatory and lymphatic systems and in depth anatomy. Disorders of the body systems.

Part 2 - Body Massage

Training in classical massage to enable the effective use of massage movements for a therapeutic effect. Learners who successfully complete Part 2 will be awarded the SQA Higher National Unit in Body Massage.

Part 3 - Aromatherapy

Study of the use of 30 essential oils including methods of extraction; main chemical components; Latin names; therapeutic properties; blending methods; contra-indications specific to each oil and client consultation procedures. Training will be given in the safe application of oils to achieve the desired effect.

After The Course:

You can apply for positions within the industry or you could provide treatments as a self employed Aromatherapist.

17 weeks on a Tuesday from 6pm-9pm.

36 weeks on a Tuesday or Wednesday from 6pm-9pm.

  • 16th Jan 13 - 12th Jun 13

Part 3 - Aromatherapy

12 weeks on a Tuesday and Wednesday from 6pm-9pm.
