CMI Level 8 Diploma in Strategic Direction and Leadership The
Level 8 qualifications in Strategic Direction and Leadership are
designed for directors and senior managers who have the authority
and personal inspiration to translate organisational strategy into
effective performance.
These qualifications require directors and senior managers to build
on their skills in strategic direction and leadership and to focus
on the requirements of inter-organisational strategy.
Criteria for Admission:
Entry to the programme will be through interview and the candidates
will be expected to hold a CMI Level 7 Diploma in Management, an
appropriate masters degree or similar. The applicants normally need
to demonstrate a considerable relevant work experience at a senior
level.
In exceptional circumstances, managers with considerable experience
but no formal qualifications may be considered, subject to
interview and being able to demonstrate their ability to cope with
the demands of the programme. In the case of applicants whose first
language is not English, then IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) is
required.
International qualifications will be checked for appropriate
matriculation to UK Higher Education postgraduate programmes. The
applicants are normally required to produce two supporting
references, at least one of which should preferably be
Academic.
Learners admitted to the programme have sufficient capability at
the right level to undertake the learning and assessment. The
qualification is offered in the medium of the English Language.
The Standards and the Qualification:
This is one of a series of progressive management qualifications
designed by the Chartered Management Institute. It is focused
mainly on the content of the qualification and the learning
outcomes that will be achieved.
Qualifications Frameworks and Credit Transfer:
The Level-8 Diploma in Strategic Direction and Leadership is
offered by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). The CMI is an
organisation approved by the government to design qualifications
and awards. The CMI is your awarding body for the Level-8 Diploma
in Strategic Direction and Leadership (8D1) qualification. This
awarding body endorses candidate's certificates to make sure the
qualification has gone through a rigorous and effective assessment
process. The centre has responsibility for the quality of the
qualification and works within CMI's policies and guidelines.
This qualification at this level is based on professional
experience, knowledge and reflection. It develops the creativity
and business science for professional seeking to advance their
skills. This qualification is highly developed and complex levels
of knowledge which enable the development of in-depth and original
responses to complicated and unpredictable problems and situations.
Learning at this level involves demonstration of high level
specialist professional knowledge and is appropriate for senior
professionals and managers.
Programme Structure:
The qualification consists of six units, which all candidates have
to take, and one unit selected from a further two optional units.
BRC will offer only the selected optional units, so not all
optional units will be available to all candidates at BRC. The
Level-8 Diploma in Strategic Direction and Leadership (8D1) is
awarded on successful achievement of the core units and the
optional units: Learners need to complete all core units (Group A)
and one optional unit (Group B) to a total of at least 67 credits
to achieve the qualification.
