Description

This is a very intensive course of 4 hours a week on Saturday mornings based on a three unit modular course. A lot of independent study and maturity will be required to succeed. The three units are Unit 1 Statistics and Number (March), Unit 2 Number and Algebra (June) and Unit 3 Geometry and Algebra (June).Additional support is available to provide extra support for students. Students must maintain an attendance of above 85% and complete all set tasks for entry to exams.

Unit 1 Statistics and Number (26.7%) Working with numbers and the number system, Fractions Decimals and Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, The language of Algebra, Sequences Functions and Graphs, Handling, collecting, representing and analysing data. Probability Unit 2 Number and Algebra (33.3%) Working with numbers, Fractions Percentages and Decimals, The language of Algebra, Sequences Functions and Graphs, Expression and Equations Unit 3 Geometry and Algebra (40%) Working with numbers and the number system, Fractions Decimals and Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, The language of Algebra, Sequences Functions and Graphs, Properties of angles and shapes, geometrical reasoning and calculation, Measures and construction, Mensuration.

Entry Requirements

GCSE Grade D at Foundation level obtained within last year. You will be asked to complete a computer assessment which needs to say you are working at or towards level 2. You will also complete a written assessment.

Delivery & Assessment methods

There will be regular class tests given at end of each topic. Each unit is examined by one paper Unit 1 calculator 1 hour Unit 2 non-calculator 1 hour and 15minutes Unit 3 calculator 1 hour and 30minutes

Progression

Obtaining a grade C will allow you to follow other courses.
