Students are required to attend College for one day a week. In 2012 this will be on Tuesdays for Years 10 and 11.
Times attendance is required are between 10.00am - 2.30pm.

Course Description

We use facilities around the campus and local to our location in order to help develop learners in a number of key areas and with strong links to the uniformed public services nationally exceptional visits and guest speakers form part of our courses.

Units include:

  • Public Service Careers
  • Improving Health and Fitness for Entry into the Uniformed Public Service
  • Personal Skills for the Public Services
  • Practical Teamwork in the Public Service
  • Map Reading using Ordnance Survey Maps
  • Planning and Participating in an Event

Functional Skills
You will also work towards nationally recognised functional qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.

Assessment Methods

The teaching and assessment of these subjects is usually embedded in the practical subjects covered.

A small amount of paperwork is needed for the student’s portfolio although most of the assessment is through practical observations.

Progression

Successful learners may progress to a full time post 16 Level 2 programme, Apprenticeship or employment.

All progression routes are reliant upon the student reaching certain levels in Literacy and Numeracy.
