Course structure
The Foundation Degree in Performing Arts focusses on the ensemble. As a graduate you will have the practical know-how and the theoretical contextual knowledge necessary to create theatre or work in one of its many current forms, from the Broadway musical to avant-garde fringe.
In Year 1, modules in Acting emphasise performance skills and understanding performance through practice. You compose and perform short pieces, and you gain experience of practical theatre-craft.

Course structure

A key feature of performance work on the FdA in Performing Arts is the inclusion of performance in mediated contexts. Students work with visiting specialists and tutors in their application of performance skills for television, film and other recorded media.
After successful completion of this course, you may wish to apply to progress to the third year of an associated honours degree course. In the event of insufficient places being available to accommodate all Foundation Degree students who wish to progress, there will be a selection process based on achievement during the Foundation Degree, supplemented by audition, and will be subject to satisfactory academic references.

- Contextual Studies 3 and 4.
Course assessment
Assessment is through coursework and includes a variety of methods such as rehearsal, performance, Personal Development Portfolios and essays. There are no written examinations.
