What is the course about?Students will have the opportunity to develop their use of the
mouse, create documents and carry out basic formatting. They will
learn how to send an email with an attachment, basic computer
maintenance, as well as an awareness of Internet and computer
security.
The content and outcomes of the course will be discussed with you
and may be adapted to meet your needs and those of the group. By
the end of the course you should be able to:
Develop your use of mouse controls
Create a simple document
Open and edit a document
Carry out basic formatting techniques
Know the difference between ‘save’ and ‘save as’

Who is the course for?
This course is an ideal follow on from Absolute Beginners and is
aimed at those who have limited knowledge or experience of
computers. It is aimed at those wishing to gain confidence in using
their computer at home.
What is your approach?
There will be demonstrations and explanations, followed by time
for you to practise all the new techniques you are being shown.
You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning
Plan and your tutor will discuss your progress and achievement with
you throughout the course.
What can I do next?
You may wish to consider the Beginners Extra course as a
progression route. This course has been designed as a follow on
course to the Beginners Plus course.

For this course Aspire Sussex uses an external venue, for example,
a library, which has Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 on the
computers. If you have any queries on this please do contact the
centre at the time of booking.
If it is important for you to be using a particular version of
software on your computer you must check with the centre at the
time of booking your course, that the version you wish to learn is
used on the course you are joining.
